The streets of Downtown Seattle will soon come alive with art – through a community event that activates the neighborhood’s parks, sidewalks, plazas and storefronts in downtown Seattle.
On September 20, Walk Dont Run kicks off Art and Culture Week Seattle, which runs through the 27th.
The art walk will span a nearly two-mile route that begins in Pioneer Square, winds through the Downtown core, and ends in Belltown.
All along the route, attendees will experience live music, visual art and more performances from over 100 local artists, including Seattle dancer Akoiya Harris and singer/songwriter Hezza Fezza.
Organizers say Walk Dont Run drew inspiration from the Nepo 5K Don’t Run, which had a four-year run from 2011 to 2015 in Seattle.
“We’re creating over 100 gigs for artists – visual, music and performance and dance artists all along the route. That three-kilometer route,” said Walk Dont Run producer Kira Burge.
For more information on Walk Dont Run, see this week’s edition of the Cascade PBS Art x NW newsletter.
