Republican precinct officers from six southeastern Washington counties favor three nominees Wednesday to replace former Rep Susan Fagan, R-Pullman, who resigned last week amid allegations of cheating on her travel reimbursements.
The precinct officers nominated Richard Lathim, former Franklin County sheriff; Mary Dye, Republican state committee woman from Garfield County; and Pat Guettner, vice-chair and secretary of three county GOP parties, the Tri-City Herald reported. The county commissioners of those six counties -- stretching from Franklin to Whitman -- will interview the three in Colfax on Friday and select a replacement. The commissioners’’ selection will serve as a 9th Legislative District representative until at least the next general election in November.
