It’s easy to transfer stocks as a gift to Cascade PBS. The IRS allows you to transfer appreciated stock to Cascade PBS without recognizing capital gains on the appreciation. In essence, you can make a larger donation than you could make with cash and receive a larger tax benefit. By gifting long-term appreciated securities you can save on taxes and give the community programs that spark imagination and deeper conversation.
How it Works
You transfer publicly-traded stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares that you have owned for more than one year to Cascade Public Media (our legal name).
We sell the stocks and use the funds for programming you enjoy year round.
Your Benefits
You receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of your gift on the date of transfer, regardless of what you originally paid for the stocks.
You pay no capital gains tax on the transfer.

Make a Stock Gift in 3 Simple Steps
Step 1
Along with information about the amount and type of stock you would like to donate, provide your broker with the following information:
Cascade Public Media (our legal name)
Broker: UBS Financial Services
DTC Number: 0221
Cascade Public Media Account Number: WIA1049
Step 2
Remind your broker to include your name, contact information, and any special instructions for use of the gift with your transfer.
Step 3
Inform Kathy Fennessy at kathy.fennessy@CascadePBS.org or (206) 443-6763 with information about the type of stock you’re giving and number of shares, as well as any special considerations you may have.
