An executive session is scheduled on the Sonics arena

Ten days until the Washington Legislature adjourns. Is that enough time for the Seattle SuperSonics to get a deal to fund a new arena in Renton? I asked Rep. Eric Pettigrew, D-Seattle, a point person on the issue whose district includes parts of Renton. Pettigrew says if he had to make a prediction, "it's not going anywhere." But in the next breath he says: "I've seen things go from zero to a thousand in a second" in the Legislature. Meanwhile, Sen. Margarita Prentice, D-Renton, the Sonics' most vocal booster in Olympia, has scheduled an executive session on Sonics legislation in her Ways and Means Committee for Friday morning, April 13. It's unclear what, if any, action the committee will take.
