2008 was a rough year for America. The "Great Recession" officially hit, sending home prices — and the fates of many home owners — into the ground. By 2010, national unemployment had risen to 10 percent. In Seattle, like everywhere else in the country, not everyone was affected equally.
A recent report by the United Black Clergy and the Washington Community Action Network detailed the number of foreclosures in Seattle by ZIP code between 2008-2012. The city's losses ranged from just one foreclosure in the 98141 ZIP code (Seattle's central business district) to 1,377 in 98198 (the Des Moines neighborhood).
