Humor: I feel your rain

If you can't do anything about our miserable weather, at least you can emote about it! A domestic thunderstorm.

If you can't do anything about our miserable weather, at least you can emote about it! A domestic thunderstorm.

Seattle is having miserable weather again this spring. Worse, my wife exhibits insufficient emotion.

'ꀜThe weather is terrible and you don'ꀙt emote enough,'ꀝ I complained. 'ꀜYou need to connect to the anger that is building in the community about the weather.'ꀝ

'ꀜWhy?'ꀝ

'ꀜPeople want to know that you empathize, that you share their outrage over grey skies, drizzle, and low temperatures.'ꀝ

'ꀜWhat good would that do?'ꀝ

'ꀜStop being analytical. Stop being practical. Use your heart, not your head. Feel the pain.'ꀝ

'ꀜI don'ꀙt like this weather, but what can I do about it?'ꀝ

'ꀜIt'ꀙs not a matter of doing. It'ꀙs a matter of feeling.'ꀝ

'ꀜFeeling will improve the weather?'ꀝ

'ꀜJust once dispense with logic. Stop being Dr. Spock and emote.'ꀝ

'ꀜHow?'ꀝ

'ꀜShow your passion."

"How?"

Get mad.'ꀝ

'ꀜAnd then?'ꀝ

'ꀜThreaten to kick ass if the weather doesn'ꀙt improve.'ꀝ

'ꀜOK. I'ꀙll kick ass.'ꀝ

'ꀜNow you'ꀙre being inauthentic. You'ꀙre not the type of person who threatens to kick ass. Who are you trying to kid?'ꀝ

'ꀜBut you told me to say it.'ꀝ

'ꀜI want you to emote, connect, and threaten to kick ass — but in authentic manner. I don'ꀙt want you to emote, connect, and threaten to kick ass in a pandering, counterfeit manner.'ꀝ

'ꀜI give up.'ꀝ

'ꀜThere you go again. Passive, defeatist, a quitter. With that attitude we will never see summer."
