Tininha Silva’s sculptures look like they washed ashore

In this premiere episode, Brangien Davis meets a Port Townsend artist to explore her creative process involving chicken wire and natural materials.

In this premiere episode, Brangien Davis journeys into the creative universe of Tininha Silva, a sculptural artist born in Brazil and based in Port Townsend. Formerly a swimwear designer, Silva channels her creative energy into crafting intricately woven wall hangings and sculptures using natural materials like raffia, paper and wool – as well as objects from beach walks, including seaweed, rocks and shells. Her work, deeply inspired by nature, reflects the organic beauty of the seashore. Silva’s unique approach to weaving is instinctive and free-form, without sketches, resulting in pieces that embody ecological harmony and environmental themes. Join host Brangien Davis for an intimate look at Silva’s creative process, her inspirations and the stunning tactile art pieces she creates.
