Election Day is upon us. Haven’t registered yet? No worries, you’ve still got time. In Washington, you can actually walk in, register, and vote the same day, right up until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Even before election day, machines have been scanning ballots for days at King County election headquarters in Renton. Every ballot from King County voters takes a pass around the second floor of this building as workers verify and scan each one.

Downstairs, things get busy too. In the days leading up to an election, the first-floor elections center fills up with last-minute voters coming in to register and cast their ballot.

“By law, we do have to lock those drop boxes and close those vote center doors at 8 p.m. But if you are in line for either of those things, you will still get to vote and your ballot will be on time. So folks can come right up until that 8 p.m. deadline,” said Kendall Hodson, Chief of Staff of King County Elections. “Of course, we'd certainly recommend coming a little bit earlier. We will probably see some lines. It also is just good peace of mind to make sure you get that ballot in. But yeah, if you are a procrastinator, we are still going to help you as long as you're in line by 8.p.m.”

There are seven election centers in King County where voters can still register on Election Day and vote that day. Voters can also come for a replacement ballot or if they have other questions.

Each county has at least one election center open until 8pm election night. Visit the [Washington Secretary of State’s website](https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/voters/voter-registration/drop-box-and-voting-center-locations?ref=cascadepbs.org) to find an election center.

Hodson says folks don’t need to bring anything with them to register to vote.

“All they need is themselves. It's helpful if they have their Washington State ID with them or driver's license, is great. If they know their social security number, the last four digits is going to be helpful as well,” Hodson said
