Brangien Davis heads to Astoria to meet Miki’ala Souza, a Native Hawaiian printmaker whose atmospheric monotypes explore waterways and migration. Having moved from Oahu to Oregon, Souza feels a pull across the Pacific. Collaging color and texture, clouds and ripples, she crafts dreamlike scenes that invite the viewer to reflect on their own feelings of family connection, distance and belonging.
