Rep. Jayapal is currently in her fifth term representing WA-07. Elected in 2016, she is the first South Asian American woman in the House. She has sponsored landmark progressive legislation, most notably the Medicare for All Act. She serves on the Judiciary Committee, is the Ranking Member of the Immigration Subcommittee, and is the Chair Emerita of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
